40th Anniversary Gala Graduation Dinner - 13th July 2005

The University welcomed 360 friends, donors, staff and past-staff for a black-tie gala dinner in honour of the 2005 Graduation and the University's 40th Anniversary. The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor both spoke about the development of the University and it's rise to being one of the top ten best Universities in the UK in only four decades. They also thanked the County of Warwickshire and the City of Coventry for donating the land which made the dream of a university for Coventry come true.

40th Anniversary Gala Concert on 23rd June -What a fantastic night!

On Thursday 23 June, the Music Centre presented the 40th Anniversary Gala Concert to mark the official end of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the University.The big band, wind orchestra, brass band, symphony orchestra and chorus joined forces for this open air concert and in between each perfomance the stage hosted a range of entertainments. The celebrations ended with a wonderful fireworks display. We estimate that 6,000 people including staff, students, retired staff, alumni and local community people attended. The weather was wonderful and an excellent time was had by all!

French and Benelux Alumni Reunion in Lille

On Saturday 19 June 2005, alumni from France and the Benelux met in Lille to enjoy a typically Flemish meal in the Couvent des Minimes. On Sunday, they visited the superb Art Deco swimming pool and art gallery in Roubaix. Read about it and view the photographs on the 40th Anniversary blog.

Mead Gallery

The Mead gallery Shop hosts a small display that celebrates 40 years of the University's art collecting. The collection of over 800 works of modern and contemporary art on open display across campus is summarised in 5 portfolios that detail 10 works from each decade since the opening of the University.

The specially created 40th anniversary logos are now online and available for download by all University members. Please do use them in conjunction with the Warwick logo - wherever you put a logo - put a 40th logo too! ( more)
