Sport at Warwick
With some of the best university sporting facilities in the country, the University is ideal for all kinds of sports no matter what your level of ability or fitness. Whether you compete nationally or get active just to meet new friends, whether you're into ‘traditional’ outdoor team sports or want to try indoor climbing, you’ll enjoy great facilities, an enthusiastic atmosphere and dedicated staff at Warwick Sport.
Warwick has a unique approach to sports management with Warwick Sport. A collaboration between the Department of Physical Education and Sport and the Student's Union, this joint venture enables all members of the University community to benefit from a more cohesive, cost-effective and user-friendly approach to sport.
Facilities
Around the University you’ll find 60 acres of outdoor playing fields, including eleven football pitches, three rugby pitches, a lacrosse pitch, two cricket grounds and a frisbee pitch. There are three floodlit all-weather pitches, one of which is on artificial grass, ideal for football, rugby and American football. Three artificial grass courts and nine macadam courts are available for tennis enthusiasts, while the 400 metre all-weather running track, shared with the Godiva Harriers, gives plenty of opportunities for meets with wider competition.
You can grab a swim, work out in the fitness suite, or unwind in the sauna after lectures at the University Sports Centre, right in the centre of campus.
In addition to the 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool, squash courts and sports halls, the University also has:
Unique to Warwick, the newly updated Bear Rock indoor climbing centre includes a specialist bouldering centre, often used in national competitions, attracting attention from all over the region.
Sports Tuition
If you want to learn a new activity, you could always choose from the range of tuition available on campus, which includes trampolining, golf, badminton and outdoor mountaineering. The Students' Union has its own sports clubs too - over 74 of them, so you may want to join in with sports like canoe polo, baseball or even Irish dancing, among many, many more.
Sports Bursaries
And if you're a very talented sportsman or woman, who has reached national standard or who has the potential to do so, there are a number of Sports Bursaries for you too. Sports clubs are a great way to meet people at University and go out socially as well as the chance to travel all over the UK at the weekends for games and tournaments.
But let’s stop exerting ourselves and head back inside – to the Students' Union.
