"I learnt more from the opportunities offered to me by the wonderful Warwick Volunteers staff and student-led projects than I did from any lecture, and they were key to giving me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone after university."

I began volunteering with Warwick Volunteers during my first year. At the time, I hadn’t thought too much about CV’s, for me it was an opportunity to get outside the Warwick ‘bubble’ and get involved with the wider community. I took up a Project Leader role during my second year and became President of the Exec Committee during my final year.
Warwick Volunteers offered the unique opportunity to develop skills, engage with the community and meet those working at the university. When I started graduate applications I quickly realised that through volunteering I had gained invaluable transferrable skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and time management. My volunteering experiences showed I was proactive and provided endless discussion points for interviews.
Most importantly, Warwick Volunteers provided a friendly environment and the chance to meet students with a range of interests. I learnt more from the opportunities offered to me by the wonderful Warwick Volunteers staff and student-led projects than I did from any lecture, and they were key to giving me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone after university.
