If you are around campus this Summer, there are many volunteering opportunities you can get involved in! From helping with Coventry City of Culture to assisting in a night shelter, there's a range of opportunities to choose from.

Please note that the hours you volunteer with these projects can count towards your Warwick Volunteers Certificate for 2021-22. Read more


Canley Chit Chat
21st Sept & 28th Sept 9.30am - 12.05pm

Canley Chit Chat aims to connect older and younger generations and help ease loneliness and isolation. We will be visiting Canley Community Centre and joining local Canley residents for tea and activities, providing friendly conversation and companionship.

Foundry Wood Volunteer Day - 26th Sept

Foundry Wood is a managed access community woodland in Leamington. They are running volunteer mornings on the FINAL Sunday of each month from 10am – 12pm. The next session is being held on 26th September.

Numbers are limited – please email kristie at arccic dot co dot uk to ‘book’ a place.

Please wear suitable clothing such as long sleeved shirts/long trousers/layers and waterproofs. Sturdy shoes such as boots or wellies also recommended.

IF you have your own tools – please feel free to bring them although we will provide them. Bringing your own gloves are also strongly recommended.

Welcome Walk with Friends of Canley Green Spaces

Saturday 2nd October 10.30am - 2pm

We will explore the beautiful countryside surrounding the University of Warwick, on a guided walk that visits ancient bluebell woodlands, lakes, ponds and streams. This is a great opportunity to see nature and wildlife. Fresh air and superb views are a great way to relax. Friends of Canley Green Spaces will be leading the walk and you can find out about their upcoming volunteer days to improve Canley's green spaces.

Albany Theatre, Coventry

The Albany Theatre in Earlsdon, Coventry, is currently looking for volunteers for various roles including:

  • Events Team
  • Box Office Team
  • Communications Team
  • Bar/Kiosk Team
  • Technical/Backstage Team

Volunteer City Hosts are needed to:

  • Provide a friendly and welcoming face for visitors.
  • Guide visitors and event spectators.

  • Support areas of displays and artwork.

Herbert Art Gallery and Museum

This summer, the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry are looking for volunteers to help with the following:

Early Years Learning Volunteer
1st Thursday, plus 3rd Thursday and Friday of every month

The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are keen to gain experience with their youngest visitors (those aged 0-4 years old). They are looking for volunteers who are friendly, energetic, easy to talk to and patient. The Herbert offers a wide range of early years activities that include sensory play sessions and VERY messy Mini Makers activities. These sessions get incredibly busy and involve a lot of tidying up, but most importantly fun!

2 Tone Exhibition Visitor Monitor
28th May – 12th September 2021 10.00am – 3.15pm (we can be flexible with volunteer hours)

Volunteers are needed to

Greet visitors at the 2 Tone gallery entrance
Monitor the numbers of visitors who are in the gallery with a clicker or clipboard
Politely ask visitors to the gallery to come back in a while if the number of visitors in the gallery has reached 30
Give basic directions to visitors e.g. to the shop or toilets

Birmingham 2022 seeking over 13,000 volunteers to deliver Commonwealth Games. Apply this summer for interviews in Sept

The search to find more than 13,000 volunteers for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has begun.

The applicants that join the Commonwealth Collective volunteer programme will be the “public face” of Birmingham 2022 and represent the heart and soul of the Games experience for athletes, officials, spectators and a global audience of over one billion. The Games is the largest sporting and cultural event ever held in the West Midlands and the biggest in the UK for a decade.

The majority of volunteer roles do not require any formal experience or qualifications with full training provided. Roles include drivers, first aiders, meet & greeters, venue preppers, kit carriers, courtside assistants, to help the Games run smoothly and create a unique experience right across the region.

Applicants can select preferred areas of interest, which include Event Services, Accreditation, Transport, Sport and Media.

25,000 shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview at the Volunteer Selection Centre between September and December 2021, which will be held at the iconic Library of Birmingham. Successful volunteers will be notified of a role offer from January 2022.

LWS Night Shelter

LWS Night shelter in Leamington is looking for volunteers and would love to have you on their team over the summer!

Volunteers support some of our community's most vulnerable people by helping provide food, essentials and a listening ear, all while working in an amazing team and meeting new people! Roles can involve anything from serving food, making up food parcels and organising a mini "food bank", to cooking, baking or collecting donations.

They have plenty of availability for volunteers interested in baking for them, doing supermarket collections, catering shifts and evening serving shifts. There are also many different times that they need volunteers so please contact them for details. The times they are open to guests are Friday 8:15pm - 9:30pm, Saturday 7:30pm - 9pm, Sunday 7:30pm - 9pm. All of their shifts are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Balsall Common Scout Group


Balsall Common Scout group would love to welcome new volunteer leaders. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers meet on various nights of the week, but we are particularly keen to welcome leaders into one of our 2 Scouts troops that meet every Wednesday or Friday night during the school terms from 7.30-9.00pm. This is an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy working with young people and taking part in adventure activities to get involved in the local community.

Balsall Common is a large, semi-rural village about a 10 minute drive from campus; the church hall where we meet is a 5 minute walk from Berkswell Station – about 7 minutes on the train from Canley and Tile Hill stations.
