Welcome from the Dean

Abhinay MuthooThe University of Warwick has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1965. Our 50th Anniversary in 2015 was an opportunity to recognise this success and to celebrate our many milestones and accomplishments. Given this strong foundation, as well as our growing global reach and reputation, now is a fitting time for Warwick to also strengthen its presence in the UK’s capital.

I am delighted, therefore, that we have established a new base in the heart of London’s vibrant Knowledge Quarter. Just one hour from our main campus and hosting an unrivalled concentration of world-class, education institutions, London is widely recognised as being one of – if not the - most influential city in the world. Having a base here cements our position as global leader in higher education.

Warwick University is already engaged in many exciting initiatives in London. To name just a few, we are members of the Alan Turing Institute for Data Science, we have collaborations with the London Film School and Queen Mary’s University and our Business School operates from the iconic Shard. There are many others. The new London base will aid coordination across these activities but will also facilitate new areas of work across a range of teaching and research areas. Our physical presence in London will also deepen engagement with policy-makers from across the public and private sectors, helping us to maximise the relevance and impact of our academic endeavours.

This is an exciting new venture for the University and it’s one that my team and I look forward to with Warwick’s characteristic energy and entrepreneurialism.
