Evening & Social | Warwick Summer School

It's not all about studying, in fact our Summer School is all about striking the right balance between working hard and playing hard! There are plenty of opportunities for you to socialise, relax and have fun.

Within the WSS programme, and included in the tuition fee, you can enjoy a variety of social events and activities.In addition we have a brilliant selection of additional trips to enhance your time with us.

There is also plenty of free time in our timetable for you to explore London and the UK independently. Colleagues will always be on hand to assist you with arrangements or advice.

Social activities

Meet and greet induction

Get to know your fellow WSS students at a relaxed welcome barbecue (hopefully outdoors in the lovely grounds at St Mary’s) and familiarise yourself with the beautiful campus and facilities on our orientation tours.

A formal three course sit down dinner at the fabulous Ravens Ait, a stunning unique Island on the River Thames near Kingston on Thames, just a short journey from St Mary's.

Curry, quiz and karaoke

A great social night featuring a fun quiz, a tasty curry and the chance to showcase your singing talents!

Farewell Reception

A final night of certificate giving, drinks and canapes in the historical Waldegrave Hall at St Mary's to celebrate in style with your new WSS friends.

Additional activities and day-trips

You can sign up and pay for these when you pay your fee. They are just charged at cost.

River Cruise

A wonderful opportunity to take a cruise along the Thames, enjoy traditional English fish and chips and a fantastic jazz band!

Theatre Trip

there will be a trip to London's West End to see a great show.

Cultural day-trips
walking tour

Visit the dreaming spires of Oxford and take historic walking tour that provides a great introduction to the city.


Explore the capital city of London and enjoy a trip on the London Eye and a river cruise along the Thames. You will also have free time to explore and find your favourite sights.


Our day trip to the vibrant seaside town of Brighton will give you the opportunity to take in the amazing seafront, culture, shopping and food for which Brighton is known. The visit will include a trip to the famously exotic Royal Pavilion.

Sports Activities (included in the fee)

St Mary's has a strong reputation of performing at the top level of international and university sport and so has excellent sports facilities.
During the 3 weeks you have the opportunity to take part in sports activities in between your studying. You can also make use of the newly refurbished Fitness and Conditioning Suite and many other sports facilities whilst you are here. Additional activities may be an additional cost.

Football and Frisbee
We hold a number of organised sports sessions for you to take a break from studying. Take to the football pitch or play ultimate Frisbee for some exercise and friendly competition. Open to all levels of skill.

Campus Walks
Pull on your walking shoes and explore the campus and local area bursting with nature. A perfect opportunity to get some great photos of our beautiful campus and surrounding areas.
