1. Achieve greater recognition of the contribution of staff through working towards "employee ownership".
Greater recognition of the contribution of our staff will be achieved through working towards “employee ownership”. This might take a number of forms but our intention would be to give our employees a greater stake in the University’s success.
2. Students as part of the Warwick community beyond graduation.
We will support our worldwide alumni community as it continues to grow, acknowledging the role graduates play in enhancing the reputation of Warwick in the UK and around the world. Students after graduation will be considered as part of the Warwick community. Further development of the “Lifetime Academy” will provide alumni with access to campus facilities and online access to careers support, academic knowledge and short courses.
3. Ensure local communities benefit from the University's facilities and presence in the region.
We will continue to ensure that local communities benefit from the University’s facilities and presence in the region. We will develop a more strategic approach to our school engagement programme and a full scholarship will be made available to the best scholar from selected local schools, including the Trust schools we are involved in. Through taking a more integrated approach across academic departments and strengthening our partnerships with healthcare providers we will help to improve the quality of healthcare within the region and further afield. Access to cultural and sporting facilities will continue to improve the quality of life of those living nearby and through collaboration with our partners in the region we work to provide a 50m swimming pool on campus by 2015.
4. Increased engagement with business will be a major focus for the University.
Increased engagement with business will be a major focus for the University, building on the excellent work already being undertaken. We will support the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership and we will take a new, more cohesive approach to business engagement, working across the University to enhance the support we provide to business, public sector bodies and third sector organisations.
5. Expand the International Gateway for Gifted Youth (IGGY).
IGGY will be expanded, rising to a global membership in excess of 100,000 connected through regional hubs in every continent. Every eligible child living within Coventry, Warwickshire and Birmingham will have free Membership to IGGY and bursaries to enable the brightest young scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds internationally to participate will continue to be sought.
