1. Constant innovation in the undergraduate curriculum.
The constant pursuit of innovation in the undergraduate curriculum will include provision of interdisciplinary modules and degrees including the introduction of a liberal arts degree. We shall explore the development of further four year undergraduate degrees to incorporate a Masters degree, such as MORSE, in the sciences and more broadly across the University. We shall continue to promote research-based teaching across the university, offering all students the opportunity to work on an extended project or piece of research in order to produce and nurture the most able academic staff of tomorrow.
2. Prepare students for their lives beyond Warwick.
We will increase efforts to prepare students for their lives beyond Warwick with employability skills and entrepreneurship being made a core feature of the student experience. A range of diplomas will be introduced as a core part of the Warwick academic offer to undergraduates and postgraduates (e.g. in modern languages, entrepreneurship, finance and business) to enhance students’ employability skills. Work experience and extended placements with employers shall be encouraged and fully accredited, with new support and incentives introduced for students taking intercalated years.
3. Enrich students’ learning experience through the Personal Tutor.
The personal tutor will remain the initial point of contact for discussion of academic and pastoral matters throughout a student's academic career. Personal tutors will also continue to refer students when appropriate to the wide range of specialist advice and support available from Student Support Services. Departments will be encouraged to build opportunities for personal tutoring into undergraduate academic teaching to enrich students’ learning experiences.
4. Teaching and learning delivery maximised through use of technology.
We will seek opportunities to be in the technological vanguard in the use of advanced technology for the delivery of teaching and learning, reflecting the level of interaction that students now regard as normal in their own lives and support our staff to identify these opportunities.
5. Excellent buildings and facilities.
We shall invest in campus facilities, continuing to develop the cultural and sporting opportunities available to students and developing new and innovative spaces to support activities for the development of the student experience. New residential accommodation will be developed and we will work to improve transport to, from, and around the University campus. We shall provide an attractive venue at the heart of the campus for postgraduates and continue to develop new and innovative interdisciplinary approaches for Masters’ provision and postgraduate research skills training.
