Corruption has a profound impact on individuals, on families and on societies across the globe. This session will investigate the history of corruption, and what that tells us about the challenges we face in the future. You’ll have the chance to put questions to an influential expert panel, including our own Professor Mark Philp and Professor Mark Knights, and Laurence Cockcroft, author of Global Corruption: Money, Power and Ethics in the Modern World and a co-founder of the UK branch of Transparency International.

MKMark Knights
Mark Knights is Professor of History at Warwick. He has mostly worked on the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, publishing books on political culture and more recently a micro-history of a (rather dysfunctional!) Hertford family – the book, The Devil in Disguise, has recently been published in paperback. He is now working on a book about corruption and anti-corruption in Britain, from the sixteenth-century Reformation to nineteenth-century Reform.

Mark Philip is a Professor in our Department of History. He is a Director of Research; Impact and Public Engagement Coordinator; and Director of the European History Research Centre.
