Biographical Details: Zoë Brigley is currently a Postgraduate Fellow and Part-Time Tutor at the University of Warwick. She was brought up in Caerphilly in the Rhymney Valley and her research project is entitled ‘Women in Exile: The Poetic Practice of Gwyneth Lewis, Pascale Petit and Deryn Rees-Jones’. She received a fellowship with the University of East Anglia and the Centre for Translation in Tarazona, Spain in 2001. She was among the first contingent of undergraduates that participated in the University of Warwick’s BA in English Literature and Creative Writing and she has an MA in Gender and Literature. She won an Eric Gregory Award in 2003 and an Academi bursary in 2005. She has travelled in Central America, particularly Mexico. She has published poetry in various British journals and anthologies and she is beginning to publish academic essays.

General Research Interests:

  • devolutionary literature,
  • the topic of silence,
  • otherness and poetry,
  • the construction of the woman poet (Victorian, modernist and contemporary),
  • the mechanics of poetic form,
  • narratives of violence and sexual violence... etc
