Faculty of Arts

A very warm welcome to the Faculty of Arts, an outstanding community of internationally renowned scholars and exceptional students.

The faculty is home to single discipline departments across the range of arts and humanities subjects, as well as multidisciplinary research centres, and world class teaching and research facilities.

Our unique strength lies in our national and international student experience, research collaborations and outlook. The faculty regularly offers research and teaching opportunities at the Palazzo Pesaro Papafava, the university’s campus in Venice. We have strong links with other international universities including Boston (USA), Vanderbilt (USA), Monash (AUS), and Jawaharlal Nehru (India) which enables us to expand the horizons of our research, enhance our teaching provision and enrich the student experience.

Our excellent research is enhanced by our collaborative partnerships with other university departments, HE institutions and community partners. We have worked closely with the UK’s leading national arts and culture organisations including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum, the British Library and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and with community organisations including the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, the Mead Gallery and the Warwick Arts Centre. These collaborations help us to develop research that is innovative and ground-breaking academically while also having significant benefits to the arts sector and creative industries.

Our faculty has grown significantly in recent years and now comprises more than 200 permanent academic staff. It occupies two sites: the Humanities building, part of the original Warwick campus and Millburn House, a purpose built facility for Film, TV and Theatre.

The high-quality of our research and teaching has been long recognised both nationally and internationally. In the 2008 RAE 7 of our 9 single subject departments ranked in the UK top 10. In the 2011 National Student Survey, all subjects offered in the faculty received over 90% overall student satisfaction ratings.

More information about the research in our faculty can be found on the Research page.

More information about our teaching and learning is available on the Study page.
