About the Department
- Founded in 1978, the Department of Film and Television Studies is one of the oldest and most respected in this country.
- The first completely free-standing department of film and television in the UK, the department’s practical and intellectual resources are entirely devoted to the study of film and television.
- The only film and television department to have 35mm, 16mm and DVD projection facilities fitted as standard in all teaching rooms.

Outstanding results in research (we have been ranked as the top Film and Television Studies department in the UK by the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, with a GPA of 3.5), and also teaching (23 out of 24 in the last Teaching Quality Assessment exercise). Often ranked as the top Film and Television Studies department in newspaper league tables, the University of Warwick is also regularly placed amongst the top ten universities in the UK.
We are now located in a new £3.5 million, purpose-built study centre at the rear of Millburn House, on the Central Campus. See the travel pages on getting to the University.

May 2011: Warwick graduate Pete Spencer has fought off strong competition to win the ACTION! 2011 internship with Working Title films. Pete completed a degree in Film and Literature and an MA in Film and Television Studies.
June 2010: We have been named as the best department in the UK for studying film and television for the second year running in the Good University Guide for 2011 published by The Guardian (click here to link to The Guardian website). The University of Warwick as a whole was ranked as third in the country (after Oxford and Cambridge).
