The Student Careers and Skills Centre can benefit all students with their career planning, regardless of whether you have no thoughts about your future and are wondering how to start, or whether you have a very clear plan of action.

The Senior Careers Consultant with the link to CAS is Marjorie Walsh. Department-based 20 minute short career clinic slots can be booked via myAdvantage. My Advantage is also the place to find out about and to book the majority of career related events including skills workshops and careers fairs as well as accessing vacancies and work experience opportunities. University House is the central base of Student Careers and Skills and you can e-mail careers@warwick.ac.uk, phone 024 7652 4748 or visit in person, where there will be someone to assist between 10.00 and 18.00 (12.00 to 16.00 outside of term time). Depending on the nature of your enquiry you may receive an immediate response or gain access to more specialist sources of help which may include access to central 45 minute guidance appointments with Marjorie Walsh.
Although some career successes do undoubtedly come about by chance, an awareness of your skills, how they relate to what's out there, and being able to use effective application techniques to gain those opportunities, will help enormously. Click on the links below for further information.
Skills
You can book a place on the Effective CV and Application workshops through My Advantage. Once you have been to one of these workshops it is then possible to arrange to see a job search adviser for one-to-one guidance on your CV or application. This is restricted to two sessions per student per year (this does not apply to other services).

The CVs, applications and interviews section of the University’s Student Careers and Skills career pages is a great source of information CV's and Application Forms, as are the relevant pages of Prospects Application Advice.
Working and Studying Abroad
If you are planning to work overseas, the University of Warwick subscribes to two databases which are designed to assist you. Going Global provides profiles of some of the countries in which students are more frequently interested in working, and a comprehensive list of vacancies all over the world. Datamonitor covers many aspects, including North, South and Central America. Prospects also has Country Profiles and a section on studying abroad Working and Studying Abroad.
