Research in Classics and Ancient History

Welcome to the departmental research pages. Our research interests embrace the full range of classical disciplines from literature, history and material culture to philosophy and thought. We share manyinterests with other Warwick departments (Philosophy, History, Centre for Renaissance Studies, Italian, History of Art) and are currently a major participant in the Arts Faculty’s prestigious Spaces of the Past project funded by the Mellon Foundation.

For further details of our particular research interests and departmental projects please follow the links on the left-hand side. As with other humanities departments, individual research forms a key part of our activities. The staff pages give details of individual work and recent publications. A full list of publications over the last two years is available on our page devoted to our recent publications. The research interests page provides a summary of our focusses. The departmental research projects page details current priorities and work which is supported by internal and external funding.

The Department has a lively community of postgraduates studying for Taught and Research MAs and for PhDs, including students from the UK and Europe . Current postgraduates are involved in research projects focussing on various aspects of material culture in the ancient world, and the love poets of the Late Roman empire. Full information on the postgraduate degrees offered by the Department and advice for applicants can be found here.
