Choosing modules for MA in Writing students

*This information ONLY applies to MA in Writing students

Choosing which modules you will take is a very important part of structuring your MA. Please consult the list of modules on offer for 2016-2017 and read the entry on Course Structure for your degree.

If you wish to seek advice about module choice, you should contact the Admissions Tutor or the Convenor of your MA programme.

The number of modules taken per term and per year depends on which mode of study (part-time or full-time) and which route (route A or route B) you follow. See the MA in Writing course structure pages for details and guidance.

When appropriate, a student may make changes to their module selection in the spring term. Please discuss with your Personal Tutor and inform the Postgraduate Officer.

Steps to choosing and registering your modules:

By 1 September - students need to complete a Provisional Module Selection Form. Please complete the correct form for your MA. You will be asked to indicate an alternative module for each term, as it may not be possible to accommodate every first choice. This is because sometimes we need to cap numbers on popular modules, and also because some modules do not run because they are undersubscribed. Note that not all modules run each academic year.

By the 3rd week of October - students will need to officially register for their modules online via EMR. The University will contact students directly with information on how to register.

Note that the EMR system will remain open to students only until the third week of October.
