Radio Sony Award for Warwick Writing Programme TutorPeter Blegvad, a long-standing tutor with the Warwick Writing Programme in the English Department, was awarded a Silver Sony Award earlier this week for his Radio 3 play 'Use It or Lose It'. The play was written by Peter and starred Harriet Walter, David Horovitch and Peter himself. The judges said: "In awarding the Silver to this production, the drama panel was very impressed by the narrative structure and the way the sound employed played as much a part as the dialogue in telling this moving story of the loss of intellectual and sensory faculties. We thought it was a beautifully conceived idea, wonderfully executed." Teaching Shakespeare: A New Partnership between the University and The Royal Shakespeare CompanyShakepseare scholar, Dr Paul Prescott of the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, is key player in the devlepment of a new partnership between the University and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) which aims to help transform the classroom experience of Shakespeare for young people. The new venture, Teaching Shakespeare, will deliver high-quality online professional development for teachers through a specially created set of online resources, including unique access to a rehearsal room.Teachers can register from April 2012 and the first set of courses and resources will be available in October 2012. International Summer School for undergraduate students from overseas universitiesThe University of Warwick have just launched the website for the University of Warwick’s International Summer School for undergraduate students from overseas universities. The school will offer two programmes and one is Creative Writing Across Genres; the course convenor is George Ttoouli and it is being run by IATL.
