- The Department was judged excellent in the last Teaching Quality Assessment. The quality of teaching by staff in the Department has been recognised several times in the annual Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence competition.
- In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, according to the proportion of research classified in the top two categories (‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’), research in the Department of French Studies was ranked equal first among all UK French Departments returned. In terms of the consistency of excellence or overall average score (or GPA) of the Department’s submission as a whole, the Department was rated joint second in French Studies in the UK.
- The French Studies and joint degree programmes offer a wide range of modules covering French written and oral language and many different aspects of French and francophone culture, literature, film, history, politics, and society.
