    League Table Showings:

    • Warwick University has been ranked 5th overall in the Sunday Times League Table of Universities.
    • Warwick University has been ranked 3rd overall in the Guardian.
    • The department of German Studies at Warwick ranked 5th in the Times League table of German Departments in the UK for 2010.
    • In the last Teaching Quality Audit we received 23 points out of 24 and you can read a copy of the report for our department by accessing the QAA website directly

    National Student Survey

The all-important and quite revealing National Student Survey is in many ways the best measure of what students think of our department, courses and teaching.

    • Warwick German Studies consistently scores very highly in the NSS. In the first survey we participated in, we came first out of all UK German Departments.
    • In 2009-10 and 2010-11 we repeated this performance, coming first!

    Teaching Excellence Awards

    • In 2003, Prof Erica Carter was among the first three members of University staff to receive a Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence.
    • In 2009 Dr Sean Allan followed suit, being given the award following his wide-ranging contributions to the undergraduate teaching portfolio and to e-learning resources.

The awards scheme was established in 2002 to recognise and celebrate those whose teaching is of a particularly high standard. Students and staff were invited to nominate individuals that they felt had demonstrated exceptional ability, innovative methods or had established effective links between research and teaching. Each award winner was presented with £5,000 to support their teaching and research activities. In the Department of German Studies this money has being spent on upgrading and expanding video, DVD and IT-based equipment and developing e-learning resources.
