The Warwick History Department is recognised internationally as a centre for innovative and influential research and is consistently ranked among the best history departments in the UK. Religion and society were inextricably linked in the structures and culture of early modern Europe. This MA programme explores religious, social and cultural developments in the context of the Protestant Reformation and the strains created by soaring prices and population, and heightened social mobility. Warwick has a particularly strong concentration of Renaissance and early modern scholars and this well-established MA has been described by one external examiner as 'the best of its kind in the UK'. Students can choose to focus on English or wider European history, or combine the two. The Library's extensive holdings of archival material on microfilm, and online resources such as EEBO (Early English Books Online), ECCO (Eighteenth-Century Collections Online), and The Old Bailey and London Bridewell records, enable students to access a wide range of primary sources during the course of the MA. |
