    MA Italian Studies: Culture and Communication

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE WILL NOT RUN IN 2012-13.

    NO APPLICATIONS WILL THEREFORE BE ACCEPTED IN THE CURRENT YEAR.

     

     

    The Italian departments at Birmingham and Warwick jointly offer this distinctive Masters programme. As a student on the programme you will have full access to the facilities of both universities and the range of teaching and research expertise offered by a multi-disciplinary team of ten staff.

    The programme is designed for both native and non-native speakers of Italian. It offers opportunities to graduates from the UK and elsewhere who have a first degree which includes Italian; to Italian graduates who wish to study Italian culture from a European perspective; to mature students who have acquired relevant knowledge and experience without a formal qualification in Italian.

    You will follow a total of four taught modules and complete a Dissertation for a total of 180 credits.

    The compulsory taught modules are:
    • Research and Critical Reading Skills (30 credits)
    • Reading and the Book (30 credits)

    The options (choose two) are:
    • Teaching and Learning Italian (30 credits)
    • The Shapes of Knowledge in Early Modern Italy (30 credits)
    • Emigrants, Migrants, Immigrants (30 credits)
    • Cinema and the Representation of Interiority (30 credits)
    • Translation and Communication Skills (30 credits)
    The Dissertation (60 credits)
    Part-time or Full-time Study

    The programme can be taken full-time in one year (October-September) or part-time over two years.
