About Me
I am originally from Solihull in the West Midlands, studying at Solihull Schoolbefore moving to Leamington Spa to study at the University of Warwick . I graduated in 2008 with a 2.1 in Theatre and Performance Studies where I developed an interest for the marketing of theatre and the arts. Warwick was recently ranked 4th in the Times University League Table and this is why I chose to return to study for a Masters in International Design and Communication Management, where in 2010 I graduated with a pass at 68%. Since beginning my Masters, I have developed a keen interest in advertising and particularly in print design. I hope to be able to secure a graduate placement in an agency like environment as I believe this is where I could learn the most about this type of work. I am also interested in artworker positions which have a focus on printed material as I have had a long standing interest in contemporary art and design. I am keen to develop my photoshop skills to get me into the creative line of work and having my own copy of photshop, I like to practice on my own images and would like to take part in a course to learn more.
Interests
I was a member of the Solihull Ballet School and West Midlands Youth Ballet from 1992 to 2005 where I performed on a regular basis at the Warwick Arts Centre. The repertoire at the school includes pieces from Rambert Dance Company , Martha Graham , The New York City Ballet , The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Napoli, Sleeping Beauty, and a piece called Heritagewritten by the school's late founder, Phyllis Kempster, in association with David Bellamy OBE, a patron of the school and famous English botanist. I still return to the school throughout the holidays, working with the current dancers to revive old ballets for future performances. I have a particular fondness for Rambert Dance Company, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Martha Graham. Having danced since I was very young, my passion lies in being able to bring the arts, and particularly dance, further prominence as a form of accessible entertainment and reduce the elitist image it has acquired.
I continued my involvement in dance whilst at University through Warwick's Classical and Modern Dance Club where over the past four years I have been a dancer, performer, Ballet teacher, Head of Teaching and finally, Committees Liaison Officer, where I am trying to integrate the club further into the activities of Warwick Sport and alongside the many other dance clubs and societies. Our newest venture was The Great Warwick Jump 2009 where nine of the club's members, including myself, jumped from 15,000ft to raise over £2000 for Marie Curie Caner Care and the Alzheimer's Society.
