Michelle Nicholson-Sanz & Adam Alston studied on MAIPR in 2008/09. They graduated in 2010. Michelle is pursuing her Phd in the Theatre Department at Queen Mary University, London. Adam is pursuing is Phd in the Department of Theatre at Royal Holloway University, London. In this podcast they talk about their MAIPR experiences.

Sonja Kuftinec is Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Minnesota. She has created and published widely on community-based theatre and theatre as a technique of conflict transformation in the Balkans and Middle East including Theatre, Facilitation and Nation Formation in the Balkans and Middle East (Palgrave, 2009). Her current research focuses on the Oregon Shakespeare Festival under the tenure of Artistic Director Bill Rauch, the cofounder of Cornerstone Theater.

Following a two week workshop and seminar period with Warwick University MAIPR students Alexander Roberts and Neda Radulovic developed a podcast with her to provide an insight into some of the key topics and issues that came out of the encounter.

The podcast has been divided into six chapters to allow for more selective listening, Each with the same introduction, providing a more detailed account of how the podcasts have been designed.

Interview with Professor David Roman, visiting scholar on the MAIPR 2010-11, weeks 7-8 (15-26 November 2010)

David Roman is a professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity in the University of Southern California (USC). He is an author of many articles, reviews and several books, among which Performance in America: Contemporary US Culture and the Performing Arts, O Solo Homo: The New Queer Performance, Acts of Intervention: Performance, Gay Culture, & AIDS.

During his work as an editor for Theatre Journal from 1999 to 2003 he has prepared several issues covering specific topics of Latino Performance, Dance, Theatre and Visual Culture etc.
David Roman’s work in the field also includes editing of special book series and curation of many festivals and performance events in the US.

During his short stay at the University of Warwick he discussed with the MAIPR students several urgent cultural issues, among which the most important were: gender and sexuality, publishing and curation, modern commercial culture and archive. His special attention in this course was drawn to subcultural archives and artistic production, representation of the contemporary US culture and national literature abroad, research and archival practices, queer theatre and theatrical representation of AIDS.
David Roman also initiated students’ visits to London to see the Young Vic’s production of The Glass Menagerie and National theatre’s premier of the Tony Award-winning musical Fela!
