Djanet Sears

Djanet Sears is a playwright and performer from Canada. Her Fellowship began in summer 2007, working with the RSC on their production of Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad. She returned to Warwick in November 2007 to continue work on her new play, The Circle. Djanet took part in a number of events during her tenure at Warwick: she led a workshop for Epic Tradition students on The Penelopiad, led sessions on the Writing for Performance study day and gave a masterclass on her own work. Students also had the opportunity to take part in the first read-through of her new play, a unique experience allowing Djanet to learn from hearing the play spoken aloud and students an insight into the process of writing and redrafting.
