Complexity in Socio-Economic Systems

Our trans-disciplinary research on socio-economic complexity uses concepts and methods from Complexity Science to study the dynamics of socio-economic systems in the networked world.
 

The fundamental research addresses the question of how the macro-level properties and behaviours of socio-economic systems emerge from micro-level diversity and dynamics.  This stream of work focuses on the development of theoretical constructs and models for understanding the emergence, evolution, transformation and persistence of socio-economic organisation.

The applied research agenda is concerned with organisation and behaviours at all scales (ranging from individual behaviours to the global economy).  Current application domains include management, strategy, finance, marketing, health, information networks and the information society.
