Title: Capturing the spread and evolution of influenza A

Abstract: The dynamics of influenza A continue to intrigue and frustrate modellers. Here we will look at some of the mathematical challenges in building models of multiple strains which limit our ability to understand the evolution of the virus. We will also look at some very detailed data of spread of influenza in the US in 2009, and how the pandemic wave did not obey the textbook, and the dangers of false correlations.
