Yu-Xi Chau

Background

I was born in Hong Kong and migrated to Australia at the age of 6, before returning to my birthplace to finish high school. After that, I studied Physics as an undergraduate student at Imperial College, and subsequently entered Warwick Complexity DTC in October 2009.

Interests

  • For my final year project at Imperial, I was studying self-organization properties in ant-colonies. The purpose of the project is to study how self-regulatory social systems with local exchanges of information can perform complicated tasks and maintain nest structure at the same time.
  • I have a great interest in history, and have considered studying history as my undergraduate degree. I am fascinated by the current developments of Cliodynamics, and there are some readings which I find very interesting.
  • I like various board games, especially Go. Here are some Go Questions!

Miniproject

I will be working on two miniprojects; one on biomechanics and one on the behavior of foraging animals.

Contacts

  • Like other first year students in the DTC, you can find us in the Complexity Science complex MSc room. It is on the first floor of the Zeeman building, part of the Mathematics Institute.
  • My email is Y-X dot Chau at warwick dot ac dot uk.
