Mike66Workshop in honour of Professor Mike Paterson's 66th birthday, DIMAP, University of Warwick, September 18 - 19, 2008.

The beginning Really cool Working

Description

Mike has been a leading figure in the research of theoretical computer science for nearly 40 years, and this workshop will celebrate Mike's contribution through a number of invited talks that will cover several of Mike's research areas as well as some exciting new results.

Mike received PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1967, under the supervision of David Park. Then, he spent three years in MIT and in 1971 he moved back to the UK, to the University of Warwick, where he has been working in the Department of Computer Science until now.

Mike published over a hundred papers in major international journals and conferences in Theoretical Computer Science, and he has a major impact in the research in computational complexity, classical algorithms and data structures, distributed computing , string matching, etc. In his outstanding career Mike has received numerous awards (e.g., Dijkstra Prize and EATCS Award), was the President of EATCS, and has been a Fellow of the Royal Society since 2001. For more information about Mike's outstanding career, see Mike's personal web page, the Wiki web page devoted to Mike, list of Mike's publications in DBLP and Mike's entries in Google scholar.
