The programme is designed to provide a comprehensive advanced training in mathematics, statistics and finance.

What does the Warwick MSc offer?
There are three components to the programme:

Core Modules
Elective Modules
The Dissertation

    How is the programme designed?
    The programme lasts for one year, from September to September. The Programme is designed as a mixture of core and elective modules with contributions from Mathematics, Statistics and the Business School . Examinations are at the beginning of Terms 2 and 3. The dissertation proposal is also prepared and presented in the third term, with the final submission in September.

    Term 1 - September - December

    Fundamental Tools (Revises pre-requisites)
    Probability and Stochastic Processes
    Numerical Methods (A)
    Derivative Securities
    Asset Pricing/C++

    Term 2 - January - March

    Continuous Time Finance for Interest Rate Models

    Plus three elective modules from a comprehensive list including the following:-

    Numerical Methods (B)
    Empirical Finance
    Behavioural Finance
    Financial Engineering & Structured Products (New!)
    Financial Time Series
    Financial Risk Management
    Fixed Income and Credit Risk
    Investment Management

    Please note we will provide a finalised list of electives when you arrive at Warwick in September.

      Term 3 - April - September

      Dissertation (10,000 words)

        Assessment
        The programme will be assessed by submission of formal coursework throughout the three terms. In addition, there will be examinations in Terms 2 and 3.

        Opportunities may be available for your dissertation to be undertaken with a financial institution. Students have to pass all their exams and assessments before they are allowed to progress to the dissertation which should be submitted in September. The completion of a satisfactory dissertation, no more than 10,000 words in length, is a necessary condition for award of the MSc.

        A diploma qualification is available to be awarded to students not reaching the level required for the award of the MSc, but there is no direct admission for a diploma.
