Past Conferences

European Conference for Social Work Research, March 23rd – 25th 2011, St. Catherine’s College, Oxford. http://www.ecswr.org/
The conference offered an excellent opportunity for those SWHIN members who attended to meet together. An informal gathering over lunch on Thursday was followed by a well attended SWHIN symposium with presentations from Paul Bywaters, Varda Soskolne, Julie Fish and Sarah Donnelly. This also generated interest from others who went on to join the network. Overall a total of 12 new members signed up. A timetabled special interest group meeting brought 14 members together over lunch time on Friday. Although time was limited, most of the focus of the meeting was on sharing research interests with others and there was also a chance to put names to faces . Some of us can be seen in the photo, enjoying the Oxford sunshine. Other presentations by SWHIN members were also well supported.
Events of this kind are valuable in strengthening the network in many different ways. As well as raising the profile of the network, the informal sharing of ideas and experiences frequently acts as a catalyst for future contact and collaboration.
People attending on Friday : Martin Webber, Gavin Davidson, Agnes Law, Victoria Foster, Shula Ramon, Kenneth Chow, John Devaney, Nehami Baum, Varda Soskolne, Ted McNeil, Surinder Guru, Kate Karban, Julie Fish.
