Welcome to the Warwick Prize for Writing, an innovative prize, worth £50,000, launched by the University of Warwick.

This is an international cross-disciplinary award which will be given biennially for an excellent and substantial piece of writing in the English language, in any genre or form, on a theme that will change with every award. The theme of the Warwick Prize for Writing 2011 will be Colour.

Nominations will open in January 2010 for the 2011 Warwick Prize for Writing.

The theme for the 2011 Warwick Prize for Writing will be 'Colour'.

About the Prize

How does writing evolve? Where is its moving edge? Is all writing - at its very best - a type of creative writing? The Warwick Prize for Writing will explore these questions to identify excellence and innovation in new writing.

The 2009 Winner

Naomi Klein was announced as the winner of the first Warwick Prize for Writing at an evening awards ceremony held on 24 February 2009 in the Mead Gallery at the Warwick Arts Centre on Tuesday 24 February.
