Module Description

Researchers and decision makers in the public and private sector often rely on survey data when answering research questions and drawing strategic conclusions. But how valid is the data they use? What is a good survey question? And how is survey data collected? This module helps you to develop your knowledge and experience of the quantitative research cycle from initial design through to data collection. You will formulate your own research question and hypotheses based on a review of relevant literature and theories. You will design a questionnaire and will learn how to implement and carry out a web survey using Qualtrics. By developing your own survey instrument, this module will make you aware of the pitfalls and problems in survey research. The module is complemented by module QS205 which is designed to enable students to analyse and report on the data collected in this module.
