Transport Measurements

We encourage applications to use the 4 T superconducting magnet for resistivity and electric measurements. Samples can be cooled to 2 K using our cryostats which, when mounted on an azimuth rotation stage, allow resistivity measurements to be performed in fields up to 2.5 T.

At the moment we can provide 2 terminal resistivity measurements using a Keithley multimeter. In the future we plan to extend the resisitivity suite to allow 4 terminal and van der Pauw measurements. These setups will also allow Hall effect studies as a function of field and azimuth.

A commissioning study exploring Anisotropic Magnetoresistance performed by users from the Unviersity of Durham shows what is currently possible. We welcome applications to exploit this facility.
