Researchers - NIHR Portfolio Studies

NIHR Portfolio Studies

In order to qualify for CRN support, your study needs to be eligible for adoption onto the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Portfolio. This is a national database of high quality research studies eligible for support from the NIHR Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN).

Eligibility criteria include work commissioned by the NIHR for the NHS, the Medical Research Council (MRC), the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), Government departments and non-commercial NHS partners. The research must be original, awarded by open competition and of benefit to the NHS (http://public.ukcrn.org.uk). Commercial organisations can also apply for joint research with NHS organisations to be awarded Portfolio status using similar criteria. Other forms of research work may be eligible but this does not automatically include university work such as PhD. Service evaluations and auditing of health care is important but excluded from the Portfolio scheme.

Further information can be found by visiting the UKCRN Website If you are currently participating in a research study which you feel may be eligible for the Portfolio, please check the NIHR eligibility criteria. Or simply contact us.
