The NHS is committed to reducing the carbon emissions associated with its activities; research is urgently needed to learn how this can be done. This study will investigate as to how general practice can contribute.

The GPNET-0 Study aims to answer the question:

‘How do institutional, organisational, professional, and patient factors influence the implementation and sustainability of actions to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions associated with general practice?’

The study’s aims:

• To understand how general practice is implementing decarbonisation actions to help achieve a net zero NHS; and
• To generate actionable recommendations on how to support and accelerate the implementation and sustainability of actions to decarbonise general practice to help achieve a net zero NHS.

Study Setting:

The GPNET-0 Study will be conducted within three Integrated Care Board (ICB) areas, selected due to their differing levels of current engagement with decarbonisation activities: Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, Birmingham and Solihull ICB, and South Yorkshire ICB.
