WMS students present at regional ASME conference

group3

Earlier this month a group of faculty and students from WMS attended the regional Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) conference and made a presentation on student initiatives. Student initiatives are seen as a real strength of our MB ChB programme, designed and delivered by students to support fellow students. The presentation focused on three areas:

  • Student seminars – led by students of the year above to their peers, with no Powerpoint presentations allowed. Innovative approaches are encouraged, even the use of fuzzy felts!
  • The optional teaching certificate to study alongside the programme, which is faculty supported and develops the skills needed to teach.
  • Re-group, which is a support group available to any student that has failed part of their course.

The presentation was made to faculty and students of medical schools across the region and was well received, with the students being highly commended for such active, positive involvement in the programme.
