Clinical electives in Japan
2003, a WMS student visited Osaka for a Cardiology and Neurology Clinical Elective.
Japanese clinical students from Nagoya have been coming annually to Warwick for clinical electives since Spring 2006.
A clinical elective exchange programme has now been developed between Warwick Medical School and Nagoya Medical School.
1. This programme allows visiting Nagoya clinical elective students to meet WMS exchange programme students during the Summer term of year 2 of the WMS course.
2. The WMS exchange students would then be able to meet the Nagoya students again the following year during the WMS year 3 Spring Clinical Elective in Nagoya.
3. When in Nagoya, the WMS students would have a host clinical department
4. and where appropriate an additional host clinical research department.
5. WMS students would be encouraged and supported in developing a clinical project to undertake when in Nagoya.
The first Warwick exchange student had a clinical neuroscience elective in Nagoya in Spring 2009.
The second Warwick exchange student had a cardiology attachment in Nagoya in Spring 2011, completed in Hong Kong.
The third Warwick exchange student plans a cardiology attachment in Spring 2012.
This opportunity is part of the regular Warwick Medical School Year 3 Clinical Elective Programme.
WMS students wishing to undertake a clinical elective in Japan must fulfil the normal requirements of the WMS Clinical Elective Programme.
For information on future clinical electives in Japan, please contact Professor Donald Singer.
See clinical elective reports by Nagoya clinical elective students from 2006 and 2008.
