    Anthologies: 2012, 2011 or 2010 Hippocrates Prize Poems


    2012 Hippocrates Awards for poetry and medicine were announced by the judges on 12th May in London


    2012 Hippocrates Prize Anthology

    At the 2012 Hippocrates Prize Awards on Saturday 12th May, an Anthology will be launched of the 3 Open and 3 NHS award winning entries and 40 commended poems in the 2012 Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine. The poems were judged by Paris-based US poet Marilyn Hacker, broadcaster Martha Kearney, and scientist Professor Rod Flower FRS.The NHS-related short list includes one poet from Scotland and two from England.

    The Open international short-list includes one poet from the USA and two from the UK. Themes ranged from identity and immunity to psychiatry and alienation, and from global health to medicine in archaeology, and the role of women in health (see full details of short-listed names, biographies and judges comments).

    In the Open section, 10 of the 20 commended poems were from overseas: 1 from New Zealand, 2 from Australia and 7 from the USA.

    The cost of the 2012 anthology is £10 + postage and packaging.

    (The first 2012 copy is free for 2012 commended or 2012 award-winning entrants).

    2011 Hippocrates Prize Anthology

    At the 2011 Hippocrates Prize Awards on Saturday 7th May, an Anthology was launched of the Open and NHS 6 award winning and 40 commended poems in the 2011 Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine. Open International Winners were Michael Henry, Cheryl Moskowitz and Sandy Goldbeck-Wood; NHS Winners Paula Cunningham, Wendy French and Johanna Emeney.

    In the Open section, 9 of the 20 commended poems were from overseas: 1 each from Canada and New Zealand and 7 from the USA.

    2010 Hippocrates Prize Anthology

    An anthology has been published of the 6 award winning and 40 commended poems entered for the 2010 International Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine and judged by BBC Broadcaster James Naughtie, doctor and poet Dannie Abse and NHS Medical Director Sir Bruce Keogh.

    The cost of the 2010 anthology is £8 + postage and packaging (£4 + P & P for 2010 Commended or 2010 award-winning entrants).
