The OHCA database provides a unique dataset of process and outcome variables for OHCA. To strengthen the power of these data we are carrying out a feasibility study to link the data collected to existing routinely collected hospital data sources.

Specifically, we plan to link the OHCAO database to ONS data that will enables us to access information: hospital interventions and length of stay via Hospital Episode Statistics (HES); intensive care interventions via Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC); and cardiac interventions (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, PCI, and implantable defibrillators) via the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcome Research (NICOR).

The linked dataset, which covers key prognostic variable from EMS delivered care, through to intensive care and hospital discharge will allow future evaluation of system characteristics and patient outcomes across health settings.
