The Barbers' Company Clinical Nursing Scholarship

The Barbers' Company Clinical Nursing Scholarship is to enable nurses/midwives making a career in clinical practice to undertake further education. The Scholarship of up to £10, 000 is offered for the fees or subsistence of a nurse/midwife normally undertaking a Masters or PhD programme relevant to nursing/midwifery in an academic department in the United Kingdom.

The amount of funding from the Scholarship is normally divided between several applicants. The award is specifically intended for nurses in, or planning to return to, clinical practice.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to submit a report on their work at the end of the year in which the Scholarship is awarded, and may be asked to share some aspect of their work at a Scholarship Seminar.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please submit:

i) A covering letter
ii) A short CV
iii) A 500 word supporting statement*
iv) If applying for a course, please enclose a copy of the course details/prospectus

There is no separate application form.

*In your supporting statement you may cover whatever you think it is important to convey to the Awards Panel. It is helpful for the panel if you give us an impression of your motivation for undertaking the course and what you anticipate you will achieve. Please ensure you include how much money you are requesting and for what, and whether you have an offer of a place on the course chosen. We appreciate you may also be applying to other funders, please include details of any other funders you have approached and the outcome, if known.

The closing date for applications for the 2017 Scholarship is 28 February 2017.
