Our strategy is to deliver high-calibre, multidisciplinary, internationally recognized excellence in health sciences research and teaching, to shape policy, and to support the University of Warwick’s strategy “to make Warwick an undisputed world leader in research and scholarship".
Our objectives are:
- To collaborate internationally, nationally and across the University of Warwick to promote multidisciplinary health sciences research and teaching of the highest international quality to improve health outcomes
- To deliver research, teaching and impact directly relevant to policy, clinicians, patients and the public
- To support and empower staff in research and academic career progression paying particular attention to Athena Swan objectives
- To demonstrate collegiality, integrity, fairness and respect within a supportive and challenging environment
- To communicate our strengths to increase international links, recognition and impact for our health science research
Our Areas of Excellence are:
- Critical mass in centres of excellence, cross campus links in multidisciplinary, multi-method health sciences research
- Outstanding randomised controlled trials in cancer, orthopaedic surgery, critical care
- Clinical trial design, particularly adaptive design
- Large scale multidisciplinary research grants
- Systematic reviewing and meta-ethnography, Health Technology Assessment modeling
- Social science and systems research, innovative mixed methods, ethics, patient and public involvement, measuring wellbeing
- High quality translational research on complex interventions and complex problems
- High quality publications and impact links with the NHS and other partners
- Excellence and innovation in teaching
- Facilitating enthusiasm and development of excellence in early career researchers with robust training in research methodology; developing creative, skilled researchers
