Sexual assault

Guideline Summary

Attending patients who have been sexually assaulted demands sensitive medical and emotional care as patients are likely to be very distressed. It also demands an awareness of forensic aspects of these cases.

The aim of this guideline is to provide guidance for paramedics1 for the assessment and management of patients that have been sexually assaulted.

1The principles will be applicable to all pre-hospital clinicians.
