Information (paramedics/medical students)

What will I have to do?

You will be invited to a testing session at tbc during the day, which will last approximately 90 minutes. We will start with a short training session, and then you will be asked to apply our new device and the two currently-used gold-standard devices for immobilising the cervical spine to a member of the research team, in a random order.

At the end of each application, we will ask you to complete a questionnaire giving your opinion on ease of application, and to make suggestions for improving the design of our new device.

We are looking for 10 paramedics/technicians to test this first (alpha) prototype, and 10 medical students who have completed the Special Study Module in pre-hospital trauma care.

Once completed, we shall feed the results of the alpha prototype testing into a redesign to create the second (beta) prototype which will then be tested in a very similar way, using a different set of approximately 35 volunteers.

The prototype design has been approved for testing by the NHS research ethics committee and the MHRA.

Below, you will find the Participant Information Sheets and copies of the consent form for the trial. If, after reading these documents, you are interested in helping us by taking part in the trial, please would you complete the indication of interest form here. We will then make contact with you to discuss your involvement further, and answer any questsions you may have. You will have a further opportunity to ask questions when you attend for the trial session. Dates for the sessions will be advised nearer the time.
