Current WMS Ehealth projects

  • The Psywell Trial: randomised controlled trial of internet-based training tool to promote mental wellbeing in the general population. Funded by Dept of Health. (WMS lead: John Powell)
  • Harnessing new technologies to improve healthcare for young people living with chronic diseases. Funded by NIHR. (WMS lead: John Powell)
  • Exploring online patient experience: why do people go online to share their experiences of health and illness and what effects does this have? Funded by NIHR. (WMS lead: John Powell)
  • Young people, mental health, and information & communication technologies: how can ICT support young people with mental health problems? Funded by Comic Relief. (WMS lead: John Powell)
  • The Networked Carers Project: how the networked society is changing the experience of caring and whether new technologies can support carers. Funded by Department of Health. (WMS lead: John Powell).
  • The OSCAR trial Online Study of Cardiac Rehabilitation: Randomised Controlled Trial. (WMS lead: John Powell, with Sally Singh and Reena Devi, Coventry University).
  • Acceptability and impact of on-line self-assessment in a student health centre. Funded by Warwick Coventry Primary Care Research Network. (WMS lead: Aimee Poote, supervised by John Powell, Jeremy Dale, WMS, and David French, Coventry University).
  • The Net Effects project: understanding the motivations and outcomes of internet health information use. Funded by NIHR TCC. (WMS lead: John Powell).

  • A serious game for childhood obesity: development and piloting of a novel intervention. Funded by NHS West Midlands. (WMS lead: John Powell, with Alan Chalmers, WMG).
  • The Virtual Clinic study: evaluation of a virtual community for people with diabetes. Funded by WMS fellowship. (WMS lead: John Powell).
  • Development and testing of a virtual reality treatment for social phobia. PhD funding. (WMS lead: John Powell, with Alan Chalmers, WMG).
  • The E-nudge trial: A randomised controlled trial of automated electronic feedback to reduce the cardiovascular risk of individuals in general practice (WMS lead: Tim Holt)
