Biography

Juul received her MSc degree in biological health sciences from Maastricht University in the Netherlands in 1998. As a doctoral student at the University of Birmingham, she received the fifth place award in the Young Investigator award competition from the European College of Sports Medicine and the International Student award from the American College of Sports Medicine in 2001. After obtaining her PhD degree in 2002, Juul worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Birmingham, investigating the different responses of well-trained male and female cyclists to a period of intensified training. She's also worked at the same University studying substrate utilization during exercise in pregnant women. As well as presenting her work at many international conferences, Juul has during this time published in a variety of journals including Journal of Applied Physiology, Sports Medicine, Nutrition, Metabolism and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Currently, she works as research manager at the Warwick Orthopaedics at Warwick Medical School. She is responsible for securing grant funding, protocol development and trial management as well as supervision of MSc and PhD students.She is a co-applicant on three NIHR HTA grants, two NIHR- Research for Patient Benefit grant and a number of charity and industry funded grants.
