Liz specialises in self-ligation, low-friction treatment mechanics including the Damon System and has now made an active decision to further develop her practice in this direction, showing her commitment to quality treatment for all patients. She has an interest in facial aesthetics and post treatment changes in early adulthood, following extraction and non extraction treatment. Liz believes in taking her patient care to the next level of excellence, to provide quality treatment for all and a smile to be proud of.

    BACKGROUND

Liz graduated in Dentistry from The University of Birmingham in 1980. She then undertook extensive further training, working initially at The Birmingham Dental Hospital, followed by Burton on Trent District and General Hospitals in the Oral and Maxillofacial departments and later as a Registrar at the Birmingham Children's Hospital. During this time she studied for the Fellowship in Dental Surgery which she obtained from The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1984.A further period of training was undertaken to achieve her specialist in orthodontics qualification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1986.

Moving to the South West later in 1986 she took over an established Specialist Orthodontic Practice. The practice has grown considerably since the 80?s and now has 20 team members at the two practices. Having personally treated more than 10,000 patients with many different appliance techniques, the practice was originally a Begg practice, she has considerable experience. She acquired additional premises in 2004 at Devon Square, enabling her to expand and develop the practice to provide increased facilities for both private and NHS orthodontic treatment.

Locally she has been Chairman of South Devon's Local Orthodontic Committee and is member of the Peninsula Orthodontic Society . She is also a member of the Orthodontic Specialists Group of British Orthodontic Society, an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. She has a strong ongoing commitment to continuing professional development worldwide to ensure provision of the most advanced Orthodontic treatment available.

She has an active role in orthodontic education of the whole dental team, in the UK and abroad. She is Clinical Director of Orthodontic Therapy at Warwick University. She is also involved in training dental nurses for radiographic and orthodontic nurses certificates and dental practitioners on the MSc in Orthodontics programme at Warwick. She lectures to study groups and PCTs and welcomes pupils from local schools to attend for work experience.
