RESEARCH GROUPS |
BACKGROUNDAntje's current role is to develop an interdisciplinary research programme in oral health. The three main aspects of this programme will be 1) oral health as part of the self-management of long term conditions such as diabetes, 2) oral health, wellbeing and the patient experience, and 3)professional working and learning in dentistry. Other research interests developed as part of her work for the Health Sciences Research Institute include health and illness narratives (with a special interest in communication about health in families), and the use of complexity approaches to understand the experience and self-management of chronic illness. She is co-applicant and qualitative lead for a Research for Patient Benefit funded study Understanding factors leading to low uptake of diabetic retinopathy screening in Primary Care (FLURRi). She has also been involved in systematic literature reviews (including Cochrane reviews on improving adherence in diabetes and the effectiveness of peer telephone support interventions). Antje's teaching activities centre around research methodologies. She is a core member of the teaching faculty at Warwick Dentistry. Additionally, she teaches qualitative methodologies on the Qualitative and Comparative Methods module and provides introductions to qualitative research for medical students and practicing health professionals. |
