Research Interests

Dr. Stranges research primarily focuses on the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. In particular, he studies the effects of traditional and emerging risk factors as well the effects of non-pharmacological interventions in primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus.Dr Stranges has been involved in several epidemiologic projects and secondary data analyses in the area of chronic disease. Among the others: Nutritional Prevention of Cancer Trial, Western New York Health Study, and National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), USA; National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) and Whitehall II Study, UK; ORDET Study (EPIC) and Olivetti Heart Study, Italy. Over the years, Dr Stranges has developed a substantial experience in the evaluation of observational and clinical trial data and statistical analysis of large datasets.

Biography

Dr Stranges is originally from Italy, where he completed his medical school and a specialty training in Preventive/Public Health Medicine in 2000. Thereafter, he was a Research Associate and started his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health at the State University of New York in Buffalo, US (2002-06). While in the US, Dr Stranges completed a PhD Program in Epidemiology and Environmental Health. In 2006 Dr Stranges joined the University of Warwick, Warwick Medical School and is currently Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology.
