Research Interests

The Royle lab researches cell biology at the molecular level. We are interested in two processes fundamental to eukaryotic cellular life: mitosis and endocytosis. First, we are unraveling the molecular mechanisms of mitotic spindle stability. This involves the identification and characterisation of non-motor proteins that stabilise microtubules within the mitotic spindle. Secondly, we are working on the molecular details of clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Particularly, the way that clathrin and adaptor proteins interact. Finally, we are interested in the overlap between these two processes: how clathrin-mediated endocytosis is under the control of the cell cycle.

Biography

Steve is an Associate Professor and Senior Cancer Research UK Fellow at Warwick Medical School, UK. He completed his PhD in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge, UK and moved to Leon Lagnado's lab at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK for post-doctoral work. He started his lab as a lecturer in 2006 at the Physiological Laboratory, University of Liverpool. He moved to University of Warwick in 2013.
