"Methods for Assessing and Monitoring Patient Safety Risks"

    Programme

    Wednesday 18th November 2009, 9:30 – 16:30

    Scarman House (Lecture Room 6)

    The University of Warwick

Warwick Medical School and European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems TC7 invite participation to this 2nd European Workshop on Education & Training for Patient Safety: “Methods for Assessing & Monitoring Patient Safety Risks”.

In order to improve patient safety in practice the growing body of research needs to be complemented by an educational strategy both for new undergraduates as well as for professionals practising in the field. The 1st workshop reviewed existing curricula and current educational programmes and strategies (for further information and the presentation slides see HFET08). This 2nd European workshop brings together professionals and experts from healthcare and other safety-related disciplines in order to discuss practical methods for assessing and monitoring patient safety risks that should be integrated into emerging patient safety curricula.

Aims: The aim of the workshop is to provide a platform for healthcare professionals, experts in patient safety, and human factors and safety engineering experts from other safety-related domains to exchange views and ideas about practical methods for assessing and monitoring patient safety risks that should be made available through educational programmes to students and professionals active in patient safety.

Registration:  Participation is open with a registration fee of £50 and includes coffee breaks and lunch (payment by cheque).  Participants should come from healthcare professions, patient safety research, human factors and safety engineering disciplines.  Registration is by email with a limit of 25 participants.
