Aims
This module facilitates the acquisition of knowledge necessary to understand the significance and presentation of foot pathologies in diabetes. It introduces aspects of foot pathology, peripheral vascular disease, neuropathy, diagnosis and multi-disciplinary clinical treatment, including pharmacology.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- An increase in your knowledge base of pedal pathologies in the context of diabetes.
- An increase in awareness of current research evidence and the development of critical analysis skills providing evidence based appraisal of current practice.
- The development of raised awareness of both the physiological and psychological impact of diabetic foot complications.
- A comprehension and ability to evaluate innovation in treatment modalities of the diabetic foot.
- An understanding of the role of the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical intervention.
